| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize entrepreneur Iqbal Sheikh, whose company, CyberTex |

| 4 | 4 | | Institute of Technology, Incorporated, has been selected as one |

| 5 | 5 | | of the Top 500 Emerging Businesses in the United States by |

| 6 | 6 | | DiversityBusiness.com; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Iqbal Sheikh came to Austin after a 30-year career |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | in the economic and technical fields in his home country of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Pakistan; he recognized the financial potential of careers in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | computers and information technology and wanted his children to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | receive practical, career-oriented training in the field; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Unable to find schools that could provide |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | short-term training, he recruited an instructor from Pakistan to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | train his children in their home; within a few months, they were |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | trained and certified; the low-cost, one-on-one and hands-on |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | instruction model would become the inspiration for CyberTex |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Institute of Technology, which opened in June of 1999; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, CyberTex Institute now provides training in the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | information technology and health care fields; it works with |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | local workforce boards to identify careers with high growth rates |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and offers entry-level to advanced workplace skills for |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | high-demand occupations at the lowest cost and in the shortest |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | time possible so individuals may find immediate employment; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, CyberTex students get individualized training, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | onsite testing for certifications, and job search and job |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | placement assistance; more than 95 percent of CyberTex students |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | get a job in the career of their choice within three weeks of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | graduation; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, The success of CyberTex Institute is evidence |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | that it is fulfilling a need in the community, and Iqbal Sheikh |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and his staff deserve recognition for their great |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

| 34 | 34 | | Legislature, hereby commend Iqbal Sheikh for his entrepreneurial |

| 35 | 35 | | endeavors and extend to him congratulations on his company's |

| 36 | 36 | | selection as one of the Top 500 Emerging Businesses in the United |
