SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 259 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize entrepreneur Iqbal Sheikh, whose company, CyberTex Institute of Technology, Incorporated, has been selected as one of the Top 500 Emerging Businesses in the United States by DiversityBusiness.com; and WHEREAS, Iqbal Sheikh came to Austin after a 30-year career in the economic and technical fields in his home country of Pakistan; he recognized the financial potential of careers in computers and information technology and wanted his children to receive practical, career-oriented training in the field; and WHEREAS, Unable to find schools that could provide short-term training, he recruited an instructor from Pakistan to train his children in their home; within a few months, they were trained and certified; the low-cost, one-on-one and hands-on instruction model would become the inspiration for CyberTex Institute of Technology, which opened in June of 1999; and WHEREAS, CyberTex Institute now provides training in the information technology and health care fields; it works with local workforce boards to identify careers with high growth rates and offers entry-level to advanced workplace skills for high-demand occupations at the lowest cost and in the shortest time possible so individuals may find immediate employment; and WHEREAS, CyberTex students get individualized training, onsite testing for certifications, and job search and job placement assistance; more than 95 percent of CyberTex students get a job in the career of their choice within three weeks of graduation; and WHEREAS, The success of CyberTex Institute is evidence that it is fulfilling a need in the community, and Iqbal Sheikh and his staff deserve recognition for their great accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Iqbal Sheikh for his entrepreneurial endeavors and extend to him congratulations on his company's selection as one of the Top 500 Emerging Businesses in the United States; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
