| 5 | 5 | | is taking place Monday evening, February 23, 2009, at Scholz |

| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The Austin Tour Guide Association has offered |

| 8 | 8 | | training and certification for city-based trip leaders since |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 2006; its members work for private companies and in such places |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | as the Texas Capitol, the Old Land Office Building, and the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Austin Visitor Center; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Numbering upwards of 27 members, the organization |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | assures high-quality guidance with comprehensive, entertaining, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and timely facts about Austin and Central Texas for newcomers and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | visitors; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In the culmination of the association's rigorous |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | certification process, each new guide will receive a badge and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | certificate, then introduce his or her touring specialty at the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | annual gala; guests will also enjoy door prize giveaways, tasty |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | snacks, and live music from talented local songwriters and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | instrumentalists; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The evening marks the association's continuing |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | dedication to its role as an important contributor to the state's |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | travel and tourism industry; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend and congratulate the Austin Tour |

| 27 | 27 | | Guide Association on its inaugural festivities with best wishes |
