SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 260
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins Capital
City citizens in congratulating the Austin Tour Guide
Association on the occasion of its third annual gala event, which
is taking place Monday evening, February 23, 2009, at Scholz
Garten; and
WHEREAS, The Austin Tour Guide Association has offered
training and certification for city-based trip leaders since
2006; its members work for private companies and in such places
as the Texas Capitol, the Old Land Office Building, and the
Austin Visitor Center; and
WHEREAS, Numbering upwards of 27 members, the organization
assures high-quality guidance with comprehensive, entertaining,
and timely facts about Austin and Central Texas for newcomers and
visitors; and
WHEREAS, In the culmination of the association's rigorous
certification process, each new guide will receive a badge and
certificate, then introduce his or her touring specialty at the
annual gala; guests will also enjoy door prize giveaways, tasty
snacks, and live music from talented local songwriters and
instrumentalists; and
WHEREAS, The evening marks the association's continuing
dedication to its role as an important contributor to the state's
travel and tourism industry; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
Legislature, hereby commend and congratulate the Austin Tour
Guide Association on its inaugural festivities with best wishes
for future success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the Austin Tour Guide Association as an expression of esteem from
the Texas Senate.
