SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 261 In Memory of Ann Reinhardt Allen WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Ann Reinhardt Allen, who died January 25, 2009, at the age of 73; and WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio, Ann was a graduate of El Campo High School; she attended The University of Texas and the University of Colorado before earning her bachelor's degree from Southwestern University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta and Phi Delta Upsilon and served as editor of Southwestern magazine; and WHEREAS, She was a dedicated educator for many years, teaching at King High School and Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi; she also served as media coordinator at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired; and WHEREAS, Following a stint as an administrative assistant for the Texas House of Representatives, she returned to education, teaching in the Eanes Independent School District, at Tivy High School in Kerrville, and at The Koc School in Istanbul, Turkey; and WHEREAS, A woman of dedication and compassion, she gave generously to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and zest for life will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and WHEREAS, She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and she will continue to live in the hearts and minds of those she left behind; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Ann Reinhardt Allen: her children, Jeff and Kristi Allen; and her grandchildren, Kiersten and Kees Inserni; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ann Reinhardt Allen.
