1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 287
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
3	3	recognizing the members of the Clear Lake Area Chamber of
4	4	Commerce and the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership for their
5	5	many contributions to the communities they serve and to our
6	6	state; and
7	7	WHEREAS, The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce was
8	8	founded in 1962 and merged in 1964 with the League City Chamber of
9	9	Commerce; it became the 11th chamber of commerce in Texas and was
10	10	the 214th in the nation to achieve accreditation with the Chamber
11	11	of Commerce of the United States; and
12	12	WHEREAS, The chamber's mission is to promote the cultural,
13	13	educational, civic, commercial, and industrial development of
14	14	the Clear Lake Area and to assist businesses and firms in
15	15	relocating to its area of service; and
16	16	WHEREAS, The Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership
17	17	provides the leadership to stimulate regional economic
18	18	development and employment; it engages more than 270 investor
19	19	companies, local governments, and educational institutions in
20	20	Southeast Texas to fund and carry out its mission; and
21	21	WHEREAS, The partnership's members include aerospace,
22	22	petrochemical, and health care companies, real estate developers
23	23	and brokers, 13 cities, the Port of Houston Authority, and
24	24	Galveston and Harris Counties; the members work together to
25	25	attract, retain, and expand industry in the region; and
26	26	WHEREAS, Both of these organizations are committed to
27	27	following policies that reflect the needs and concerns of the
28	28	people of Southeast Texas and to establishing objectives that
29	29	enhance community prosperity and harmony and improve the quality
30	30	of life for area citizens; now, therefore, be it
31	31	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
32	32	Legislature, hereby commend all associated with the Clear Lake
33	33	Area Chamber of Commerce and the Bay Area Houston Economic
34	34	Partnership on their outstanding work and accomplishments and
35	35	extend a heartfelt welcome to the members of these organizations
36	36	who are visiting the Capitol; and, be it further
37	37	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
38	38	honor of the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and the Bay Area
39	39	Houston Economic Partnership.
