SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 287 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in recognizing the members of the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership for their many contributions to the communities they serve and to our state; and WHEREAS, The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1962 and merged in 1964 with the League City Chamber of Commerce; it became the 11th chamber of commerce in Texas and was the 214th in the nation to achieve accreditation with the Chamber of Commerce of the United States; and WHEREAS, The chamber's mission is to promote the cultural, educational, civic, commercial, and industrial development of the Clear Lake Area and to assist businesses and firms in relocating to its area of service; and WHEREAS, The Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership provides the leadership to stimulate regional economic development and employment; it engages more than 270 investor companies, local governments, and educational institutions in Southeast Texas to fund and carry out its mission; and WHEREAS, The partnership's members include aerospace, petrochemical, and health care companies, real estate developers and brokers, 13 cities, the Port of Houston Authority, and Galveston and Harris Counties; the members work together to attract, retain, and expand industry in the region; and WHEREAS, Both of these organizations are committed to following policies that reflect the needs and concerns of the people of Southeast Texas and to establishing objectives that enhance community prosperity and harmony and improve the quality of life for area citizens; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend all associated with the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership on their outstanding work and accomplishments and extend a heartfelt welcome to the members of these organizations who are visiting the Capitol; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership.
