                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 294
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Lissa Smith for her 10 years of outstanding service as
 district director for State Senator Florence Shapiro; and
 WHEREAS, A longtime community activist and Plano civic
 leader, Lissa Smith has contributed greatly to the betterment of
 the North Texas area with her dedication, her knowledge, and her
 proven ability to get things accomplished; and
 WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, Lissa Smith has held
 leadership roles with numerous boards and organizations through
 the years, including the community college foundation board, the
 child protective services board, and the transportation bond
 committee; and
 WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Lissa Smith has handled
 her many responsibilities with exceptional efficiency and
 dedication; she was named one of the "21 Leaders for the 21st
 Century" by Inside Collin County Business, and she has served as
 president of the Conner Harrington Republican Women; and
 WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Lissa Smith is
 respected and admired by her colleagues, and her work has had a
 positive impact on her community and her state; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby commend Lissa Smith on her outstanding
 service to the state as district director for State Senator
 Florence Shapiro and extend to her best wishes for continued
 success in all her future endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
