| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in |

| 3 | 3 | | recognizing Felix Fraga for his many contributions to the Houston |

| 4 | 4 | | community and to Houston Community College; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Southeast Drennan Campus of Houston Community |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | College is being named the Felix Fraga Campus in recognition of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Mr. Fraga's dedicated service to the college and to Houston's |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | East End; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Fraga has worked tirelessly to improve the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | community's social, economic, and physical surroundings; |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | currently the vice president of external affairs for the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Neighborhood Centers, Incorporated, he began working for the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | organization in 1947 as a youth worker at Rusk Settlement, now |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | known as the Kirkland-Ripley Community Center; he also managed |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the Ripley House Community Center in Houston's Second Ward from |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 1970 to 1990; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Through Mr. Fraga's efforts, individuals, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | companies, and foundations have come together to provide |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | resources for underserved neighborhoods; to give Houston's East |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | End a voice, Mr. Fraga represented District H on the Houston City |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Council from 1994 to 1999; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In addition, he served as a Houston Independent |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | School District board member from 1990 to 1994, and he played an |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | active role in helping to create the collaboration that now |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | exists between the district and Houston Community College; now, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Felix Fraga on his exceptional |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | leadership and his accomplishments on behalf of the Houston |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | community and extend congratulations to him on being honored by |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Houston Community College; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
