| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in |

| 3 | 3 | | recognizing Athens High School debaters Russell Frautschi and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Russell Frautschi and Katie Stark are Athens High |

| 6 | 6 | | School juniors who have won the right to advance to the state |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | University Interscholastic League debate competition; the event |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | takes place March 15 through 17, 2009, in Austin; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Respected for its sound academic curriculum and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the superior educational environment it offers its students, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Athens High School has had debaters advance to the state |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | competition four out of the last five years; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Russell and Katie became partners two years ago, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | when they were freshmen; the two work well together, and each is a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | source of support to the other; they compete as a cross |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | examination debate team; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Exemplary students, Russell and Katie are |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | talented and industrious and strive for excellence in their |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | endeavors, and their debating skills and success bring pride to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | their coach, Myrna Bass, and their fellow students at Athens High |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | School; now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend Russell Frautschi and Katie Stark on |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | earning a place as cross examination debaters in the state |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | University Interscholastic League debate competition and extend |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | to them best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 28 | 28 | | them as an expression of regard from the Texas Senate. |
