| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Blinded Veterans Association Rio Grande Regional |

| 4 | 4 | | Group for its commitment to supporting our nation's veterans in |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | the Paso del Norte region; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The national Blinded Veterans Association was |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | founded in 1945 to provide support for World War II veterans |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | blinded in that conflict; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since receiving a charter from the United States |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Congress in 1958, the Blinded Veterans Association has remained |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the only veterans' service organization exclusively dedicated to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | serving America's blind and visually impaired veterans; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The Blinded Veterans Association Rio Grande |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Regional Group was founded by Bill Case, a veteran of the Korean |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and Vietnam Wars; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The association has provided guidance, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | encouragement, and emotional support to blinded veterans through |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | their rehabilitation process, and it acts as an advocate for |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | blinded veterans and their families in the private and public |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | sectors; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The association provides a venue through which |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | blinded veterans may give mutual aid and assistance to one |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | another, strengthening their spirit of fellowship; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The association's members provide role models for |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | how the challenges of blindness can be successfully overcome and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | how blinded veterans can take their rightful place in the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | community in fostering the creation of a more peaceful world; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Blinded Veterans Association Rio |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Grande Regional Group for their commitment to supporting our |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | nation's veterans in the Paso del Norte region; and, be it |
