                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 42
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the Blinded Veterans Association Rio Grande Regional
 Group for its commitment to supporting our nation's veterans in
 the Paso del Norte region; and
 WHEREAS, The national Blinded Veterans Association was
 founded in 1945 to provide support for World War II veterans
 blinded in that conflict; and
 WHEREAS, Since receiving a charter from the United States
 Congress in 1958, the Blinded Veterans Association has remained
 the only veterans' service organization exclusively dedicated to
 serving America's blind and visually impaired veterans; and
 WHEREAS, The Blinded Veterans Association Rio Grande
 Regional Group was founded by Bill Case, a veteran of the Korean
 and Vietnam Wars; and
 WHEREAS, The association has provided guidance,
 encouragement, and emotional support to blinded veterans through
 their rehabilitation process, and it acts as an advocate for
 blinded veterans and their families in the private and public
 sectors; and
 WHEREAS, The association provides a venue through which
 blinded veterans may give mutual aid and assistance to one
 another, strengthening their spirit of fellowship; and
 WHEREAS, The association's members provide role models for
 how the challenges of blindness can be successfully overcome and
 how blinded veterans can take their rightful place in the
 community in fostering the creation of a more peaceful world;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby commend the Blinded Veterans Association Rio
 Grande Regional Group for their commitment to supporting our
 nation's veterans in the Paso del Norte region; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
