| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the multicultural education researchers of our state |

| 4 | 4 | | for their commitment to ensuring that all students are able to |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | participate fully in our society; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Multicultural education researchers study the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | basic tenets of democracy, cultural pluralism, and equity for all |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and strive to promote these ideals by advocating a multicultural |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | approach to education; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Multicultural education researchers serve as a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | valuable resource for educators who seek to incorporate |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | instructional strategies and curricula that encourage equal |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | participation and social action from all students; they propose |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the use of materials and practices that accurately reflect the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | contributions and perspectives of all members of our society; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, These dedicated professionals work to endow each |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | student with the knowledge of their own intrinsic self-worth and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | to ensure full and fair participation by all in a more just and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | equitable society; they are truly deserving of recognition for |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | their commitment and their many contributions to our system of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | education; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend our state's multicultural education |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | researchers for their dedication to diversity and fairness and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | join them in celebrating March 27 and 28, 2009, as Multicultural |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Education Research Awareness Days in Texas; and, be it further |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | honor of these special days. |
