                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 437
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the multicultural education researchers of our state
 for their commitment to ensuring that all students are able to
 participate fully in our society; and
 WHEREAS, Multicultural education researchers study the
 basic tenets of democracy, cultural pluralism, and equity for all
 and strive to promote these ideals by advocating a multicultural
 approach to education; and
 WHEREAS, Multicultural education researchers serve as a
 valuable resource for educators who seek to incorporate
 instructional strategies and curricula that encourage equal
 participation and social action from all students; they propose
 the use of materials and practices that accurately reflect the
 contributions and perspectives of all members of our society; and
 WHEREAS, These dedicated professionals work to endow each
 student with the knowledge of their own intrinsic self-worth and
 to ensure full and fair participation by all in a more just and
 equitable society; they are truly deserving of recognition for
 their commitment and their many contributions to our system of
 education; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby commend our state's multicultural education
 researchers for their dedication to diversity and fairness and
 join them in celebrating March 27 and 28, 2009, as Multicultural
 Education Research Awareness Days in Texas; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
 honor of these special days.
