| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, After nearly three decades of dedicated public |

| 3 | 3 | | service, Jack E. Thompson retired as the Harris County district |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | courts administrator on February 1, 2009; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A native of Arkansas, Mr. Thompson was hired in |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | 1982, as the first administrator of the Harris County district |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | courts; in that role, he introduced technology and innovation |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | into the court's management practices, and he played a pivotal |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | role in the design and construction of two new courthouse |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | facilities; moreover, he assisted the 59 district courts with the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | utmost efficiency and professionalism, and he did not allow the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | devastation from Tropical Storm Alison, Hurricane Ike, or |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Hurricane Rita to disrupt county operations; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Thompson enjoys the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | love and support of his wife, Jane, and his retirement will allow |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | him to spend more time with his family, including his twin |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | grandsons, Ethan and Evan; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Jack Thompson has served his community and his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | fellow residents with an unwavering commitment to excellence, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and he may indeed reflect with great pride on a career well-spent |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | as he prepares to embark on the next exciting chapter of his life; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Jack E. Thompson on his |

| 25 | 25 | | retirement as district courts administrator for Harris County |

| 26 | 26 | | and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and |
