SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 462 WHEREAS, After nearly three decades of dedicated public service, Jack E. Thompson retired as the Harris County district courts administrator on February 1, 2009; and WHEREAS, A native of Arkansas, Mr. Thompson was hired in 1982, as the first administrator of the Harris County district courts; in that role, he introduced technology and innovation into the court's management practices, and he played a pivotal role in the design and construction of two new courthouse facilities; moreover, he assisted the 59 district courts with the utmost efficiency and professionalism, and he did not allow the devastation from Tropical Storm Alison, Hurricane Ike, or Hurricane Rita to disrupt county operations; and WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Thompson enjoys the love and support of his wife, Jane, and his retirement will allow him to spend more time with his family, including his twin grandsons, Ethan and Evan; and WHEREAS, Jack Thompson has served his community and his fellow residents with an unwavering commitment to excellence, and he may indeed reflect with great pride on a career well-spent as he prepares to embark on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby congratulate Jack E. Thompson on his retirement as district courts administrator for Harris County and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Mr. Thompson as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
