| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Terence H. Fontaine for his many contributions to his |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | profession, his community, and his church; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A native Houstonian, Mr. Fontaine graduated from |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Bellaire High School in 1978; after graduation, he enlisted in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the United States Marine Corps, where he served the nation at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | home and abroad in aviation operations; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Upon his honorable discharge from military |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | service, Mr. Fontaine put his experience to use, embarking on a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | distinguished career in the field of aviation; he became an |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | important member of the staff of Continental Airlines, helping it |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | achieve the highest headstart performance rating in company |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | history and earning the highest rating an airline pilot can |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | receive; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In 2004, Mr. Fontaine was named deputy chief of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | staff to Mayor Bill White, where he was instrumental in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | implementing numerous cost-saving strategies; following the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | devastation of Hurricane Katrina, his leadership of the recovery |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | efforts at the George R. Brown Convention Center led to national |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | recognition for its positive impact on the lives of more than |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 28,000 evacuees; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practices his faith in his |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | daily life, Mr. Fontaine is a member of the Wheeler Avenue |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Baptist Church, where he recently achieved the signal honor of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | ordination as a deacon; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Terence H. Fontaine on his years of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | service to his community and extend to him best wishes for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | continued success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
