                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 503
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Terence H. Fontaine for his many contributions to his
 profession, his community, and his church; and
 WHEREAS, A native Houstonian, Mr. Fontaine graduated from
 Bellaire High School in 1978; after graduation, he enlisted in
 the United States Marine Corps, where he served the nation at
 home and abroad in aviation operations; and
 WHEREAS, Upon his honorable discharge from military
 service, Mr. Fontaine put his experience to use, embarking on a
 distinguished career in the field of aviation; he became an
 important member of the staff of Continental Airlines, helping it
 achieve the highest headstart performance rating in company
 history and earning the highest rating an airline pilot can
 receive; and
 WHEREAS, In 2004, Mr. Fontaine was named deputy chief of
 staff to Mayor Bill White, where he was instrumental in
 implementing numerous cost-saving strategies; following the
 devastation of Hurricane Katrina, his leadership of the recovery
 efforts at the George R. Brown Convention Center led to national
 recognition for its positive impact on the lives of more than
 28,000 evacuees; and
 WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practices his faith in his
 daily life, Mr. Fontaine is a member of the Wheeler Avenue
 Baptist Church, where he recently achieved the signal honor of
 ordination as a deacon; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby commend Terence H. Fontaine on his years of
 service to his community and extend to him best wishes for
 continued success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
