SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 506 In Memory of Maria Esther Bencomo WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of El Paso in mourning the loss of Maria Esther Bencomo, who died February 2, 2009, at the age of 92; and WHEREAS, Maria Bencomo was a longtime resident of El Paso and a devout member of the Catholic community; she was most proud of her wonderful family and of becoming a United States citizen, thus earning the right to vote; she went on to serve her precinct for several years in the Democratic Party; and WHEREAS, An exemplary lady who was noted for her kindness and generosity, she was respected by her community, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and WHEREAS, Maria Bencomo was a source of strength to others and was a devoted mother and grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Maria Esther Bencomo: her daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia Carrillo and David; her granddaughters, Crystal Diana and Christy Denise Carrillo; and her siblings, Rafaela Talavera, Esteban Bencomo, Manuel Bencomo, Enedina Sotelo, Evangelina Hinojosa, Ramona Terrazas, and Socorro Cordero; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Maria Esther Bencomo.
