| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Webb County Judge Danny Valdez for his many outstanding |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | contributions to his community; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Martin High School in Laredo, Judge |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Valdez served six terms as a justice of the peace before assuming |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | office as county judge in 2007; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Since taking office, Judge Valdez has worked |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | tirelessly to institute positive changes in the commissioners |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | court; he has established a working partnership with the City of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Laredo, playing a vital role in creating a County-City Projects |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and Programs Coordinating Committee; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Under his leadership, the commissioners court |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | formed the Webb County Legislative Committee, which created a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | legislative agenda item to benefit Webb County workers; other |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | projects underway include the Webb County Youth Village and a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | program that brings inmates to schools to warn of the dangers and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | consequences of bad life choices; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Active in civic affairs, Judge Valdez cochairs |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the annual Toys for Tejanitos drive and the Angel Wish program, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and he worked with the Lamar Bruni Vergara Trust in the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | development of a Boy Scout camp and an inner-city recreation |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | center; he received the Liberty Bell Award from the Laredo Bar |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Association and was named Hispanic of the Year by the League of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | United Latin American Citizens Council 7; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend Webb County Judge Danny Valdez on his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | many achievements and contributions to Webb County and extend to |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | him best wishes for continued success in all his future |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 32 | 32 | | him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
