SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 515 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Webb County Judge Danny Valdez for his many outstanding contributions to his community; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Martin High School in Laredo, Judge Valdez served six terms as a justice of the peace before assuming office as county judge in 2007; and WHEREAS, Since taking office, Judge Valdez has worked tirelessly to institute positive changes in the commissioners court; he has established a working partnership with the City of Laredo, playing a vital role in creating a County-City Projects and Programs Coordinating Committee; and WHEREAS, Under his leadership, the commissioners court formed the Webb County Legislative Committee, which created a legislative agenda item to benefit Webb County workers; other projects underway include the Webb County Youth Village and a program that brings inmates to schools to warn of the dangers and consequences of bad life choices; and WHEREAS, Active in civic affairs, Judge Valdez cochairs the annual Toys for Tejanitos drive and the Angel Wish program, and he worked with the Lamar Bruni Vergara Trust in the development of a Boy Scout camp and an inner-city recreation center; he received the Liberty Bell Award from the Laredo Bar Association and was named Hispanic of the Year by the League of United Latin American Citizens Council 7; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Webb County Judge Danny Valdez on his many achievements and contributions to Webb County and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
