SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 592 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Richard Bentley, the recipient of the Adelante Con Ganas Award for April of 2009; and WHEREAS, Dr. Bentley is the Associate Superintendent of the Division of Academics for the Ysleta Independent School District; and WHEREAS, Dr. Bentley received an associate of arts degree at the University of Maryland in Munich, Germany, a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin, a master's degree in educational administration from Southwest Texas State University, and a doctorate in educational administration from The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, Dr. Bentley has taught at Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, where he participated in the development of the first school in the country built specifically for performing arts; and WHEREAS, Dr. Bentley also served Eanes Independent School District in Austin as a high school and middle school assistant principal and as interim Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction; and WHEREAS, Dr. Bentley and his wife were recognized by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals, Region XIII, as Outstanding High School and Middle School Assistant Principals in 1993; and WHEREAS, During his tenure at Ysleta Independent School District, Dr. Bentley has coordinated the implementation of curriculum, assessment, and school improvement models; and WHEREAS, Dr. Bentley has also been a champion for El Paso's "Invest in the American Dream" initiative to promote financial literacy and stability; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Richard Bentley for his contributions to the City of El Paso and extend to him congratulations on receiving the Adelante Con Ganas Award; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
