| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join the citizens of Houston and Texans across the state in |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | celebrating the rededication of the Houston Community College |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Town and Country Campus as the Spring Branch Campus; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Houston Community College has been serving the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | residents of the Spring Branch area since 1986, when it expanded |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | its programs and offerings at the Westchester Campus; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since then, the college has played an important |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | role in furthering higher education in the area; it began |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | offering dual credit classes to Spring Branch Independent School |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | District students in 1992; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The Town and Country Campus opened its doors in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 2001, and enrollment quickly grew to 6,500 students; the college |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | has continued to work in cooperation with the public schools and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | has developed the Early College High School program in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | partnership with the school district; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Today, the campus in Spring Branch continues to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | provide high quality, affordable education to area residents, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | with opportunities for academic advancement, career and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | technical training, and lifelong learning; it is truly deserving |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | of recognition as it undergoes this important transformation; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the students, faculty, and staff of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the Houston Community College Town and Country Campus on their |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | many contributions to the community and extend best wishes for a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | memorable rededication ceremony as it becomes the Spring Branch |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Campus; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 31 | 31 | | this outstanding institution of higher learning as an expression |
|---|
