                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 606
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 join the citizens of Houston and Texans across the state in
 celebrating the rededication of the Houston Community College
 Town and Country Campus as the Spring Branch Campus; and
 WHEREAS, Houston Community College has been serving the
 residents of the Spring Branch area since 1986, when it expanded
 its programs and offerings at the Westchester Campus; and
 WHEREAS, Since then, the college has played an important
 role in furthering higher education in the area; it began
 offering dual credit classes to Spring Branch Independent School
 District students in 1992; and
 WHEREAS, The Town and Country Campus opened its doors in
 2001, and enrollment quickly grew to 6,500 students; the college
 has continued to work in cooperation with the public schools and
 has developed the Early College High School program in
 partnership with the school district; and
 WHEREAS, Today, the campus in Spring Branch continues to
 provide high quality, affordable education to area residents,
 with opportunities for academic advancement, career and
 technical training, and lifelong learning; it is truly deserving
 of recognition as it undergoes this important transformation;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby commend the students, faculty, and staff of
 the Houston Community College Town and Country Campus on their
 many contributions to the community and extend best wishes for a
 memorable rededication ceremony as it becomes the Spring Branch
 Campus; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 this outstanding institution of higher learning as an expression
 of high regard from the Texas Senate.
