| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Frank Medina on the grand occasion of his 80th |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | birthday; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman is well known for |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | his wisdom and generosity of spirit, and he is a revered resident |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of the Magnolia Park community; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Frank Medina was born March 29, 1929, in Gonzales; |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | he married Irene Benavides Medina on October 31, 1954, and the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | couple raised six children, Sylvia, Ignacio, Frank, Teresa, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Martin, and Rachel; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Medina proudly served the nation during the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Korean War as a member of the United States Marine Corps, and he |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | attained the rank of sergeant; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Medina enjoyed a productive and fulfilling |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 35-year career with the Houston Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Active in community affairs, Mr. Medina worked |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | with Little League baseball for more than 30 years and remains |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the only coach to take a team from Magnolia to the state title |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | tournament; he is also an active member of the Immaculate Heart |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | of Mary community and the American Legion; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of his community, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Mr. Medina is noted for his generous nature, his compassion for |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | others, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby recognize Frank Medina as a treasured |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | citizen of our state and extend to him best wishes for continuing |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | him as a memento of this special day in his life. |
