SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 608 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Frank Medina on the grand occasion of his 80th birthday; and WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman is well known for his wisdom and generosity of spirit, and he is a revered resident of the Magnolia Park community; and WHEREAS, Frank Medina was born March 29, 1929, in Gonzales; he married Irene Benavides Medina on October 31, 1954, and the couple raised six children, Sylvia, Ignacio, Frank, Teresa, Martin, and Rachel; and WHEREAS, Mr. Medina proudly served the nation during the Korean War as a member of the United States Marine Corps, and he attained the rank of sergeant; and WHEREAS, Mr. Medina enjoyed a productive and fulfilling 35-year career with the Houston Independent School District; and WHEREAS, Active in community affairs, Mr. Medina worked with Little League baseball for more than 30 years and remains the only coach to take a team from Magnolia to the state title tournament; he is also an active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary community and the American Legion; and WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of his community, Mr. Medina is noted for his generous nature, his compassion for others, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby recognize Frank Medina as a treasured citizen of our state and extend to him best wishes for continuing success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as a memento of this special day in his life.
