| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The American Bar Association Young Lawyers |

| 6 | 6 | | Division represents a membership of over 153,000 young lawyers |

| 7 | 7 | | from across the United States and seeks to assure that the legal |

| 8 | 8 | | profession reflects the society it serves while providing young |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | lawyers with the tools and opportunity to succeed both |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | professionally and personally; and |

| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Kelly-Ann Clarke is an attorney with Greer, Herz |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and Adams, LLP, and her practice focuses on complex commercial |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | litigation; she earned a bachelor's degree from Duke University |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center; she |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | was admitted to practice in Texas in 2000; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Born in Kingston, Jamaica, to Godfrey and Fayette |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Clarke, Kelly-Ann Clarke immigrated to Houston with her family at |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the age of six; she became a citizen of the United States on |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | November 26, 1996, which enabled her to experience the proudest |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | moment of her young life, the act of voting in her first |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | presidential election; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Kelly-Ann Clarke is an active leader in numerous |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | professional associations, including the Galveston County Young |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Lawyers Association, the Texas Young Lawyers Association, the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, the As One |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Foundation, and the Galveston Chamber of Commerce; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, As a member of the Texas Young Lawyers Association |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Board of Directors, she coproduced two significant historical |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | documentaries on civil rights, They Had a Dream Too: Young |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Leaders of the Civil Rights Movement and Vote America! Honor the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Fight, Exercise Your Right, sharing a regional Emmy Award for the |

| 32 | 32 | | former; as Chair of the Young Lawyers Division, she plans to |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | continue to educate others on the importance of civil rights and |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | the importance of civil duty; and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Kelly-Ann Clarke is a role model for all young |

| 36 | 36 | | Texans and a valued asset to the Texas legal community, and she |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | deserves recognition for her many accomplishments; now, |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | therefore, be it |

| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

| 40 | 40 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Kelly-Ann F. Clarke on her |
