                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 628
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 congratulate attorney Kelly-Ann F. Clarke on her election as
 Chair of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division; and
 WHEREAS, The American Bar Association Young Lawyers
 Division represents a membership of over 153,000 young lawyers
 from across the United States and seeks to assure that the legal
 profession reflects the society it serves while providing young
 lawyers with the tools and opportunity to succeed both
 professionally and personally; and
 WHEREAS, Kelly-Ann Clarke is an attorney with Greer, Herz
 and Adams, LLP, and her practice focuses on complex commercial
 litigation; she earned a bachelor's degree from Duke University
 and a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center; she
 was admitted to practice in Texas in 2000; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Kingston, Jamaica, to Godfrey and Fayette
 Clarke, Kelly-Ann Clarke immigrated to Houston with her family at
 the age of six; she became a citizen of the United States on
 November 26, 1996, which enabled her to experience the proudest
 moment of her young life, the act of voting in her first
 presidential election; and
 WHEREAS, Kelly-Ann Clarke is an active leader in numerous
 professional associations, including the Galveston County Young
 Lawyers Association, the Texas Young Lawyers Association, the
 American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, the As One
 Foundation, and the Galveston Chamber of Commerce; and
 WHEREAS, As a member of the Texas Young Lawyers Association
 Board of Directors, she coproduced two significant historical
 documentaries on civil rights, They Had a Dream Too: Young
 Leaders of the Civil Rights Movement and Vote America! Honor the
 Fight, Exercise Your Right, sharing a regional Emmy Award for the
 former; as Chair of the Young Lawyers Division, she plans to
 continue to educate others on the importance of civil rights and
 the importance of civil duty; and
 WHEREAS, Kelly-Ann Clarke is a role model for all young
 Texans and a valued asset to the Texas legal community, and she
 deserves recognition for her many accomplishments; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby congratulate Kelly-Ann F. Clarke on her
 election as Chair of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers
 Division and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
 success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
