| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize LifeGift on the occasion of National Donate Life Month, |

| 4 | 4 | | which is being observed in April of 2009; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, LifeGift strives to save and enhance lives |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | through organ and tissue donation in Texas; the organization |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | works together with the Texas Medical Center to make it possible |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | for organ donors to help save lives through transplantation; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Thousands of men, women, and children in Texas are |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in need of organ and tissue transplants; through the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | organization's efforts to increase organ donation, LifeGift |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | provides an essential link between potential donors and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | recipients; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, National Donate Life Month serves to increase |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | public awareness about the benefits of organ and tissue donation |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and the importance of registering one's intention to donate; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Texans can register online with Donate Life Texas to offer the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | gift of life to persons needing transplants; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Many people are alive today because of the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | generosity of others who participated in organ and tissue |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | donation; registering to become an organ and tissue donor helps |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | ensure that one's wishes are carried out; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, LifeGift and the doctors and nurses of the Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Medical Center have long worked to maximize organ and tissue |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | donation in Texas, and they are truly worthy of legislative |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | recognition for their valuable efforts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend the leadership of LifeGift on the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | organization's outstanding efforts to promote and facilitate |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | organ and tissue donation and recognize April of 2009 as Donate |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Life Month in Texas; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
