SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 637
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize LifeGift on the occasion of National Donate Life Month,
which is being observed in April of 2009; and
WHEREAS, LifeGift strives to save and enhance lives
through organ and tissue donation in Texas; the organization
works together with the Texas Medical Center to make it possible
for organ donors to help save lives through transplantation; and
WHEREAS, Thousands of men, women, and children in Texas are
in need of organ and tissue transplants; through the
organization's efforts to increase organ donation, LifeGift
provides an essential link between potential donors and
recipients; and
WHEREAS, National Donate Life Month serves to increase
public awareness about the benefits of organ and tissue donation
and the importance of registering one's intention to donate;
Texans can register online with Donate Life Texas to offer the
gift of life to persons needing transplants; and
WHEREAS, Many people are alive today because of the
generosity of others who participated in organ and tissue
donation; registering to become an organ and tissue donor helps
ensure that one's wishes are carried out; and
WHEREAS, LifeGift and the doctors and nurses of the Texas
Medical Center have long worked to maximize organ and tissue
donation in Texas, and they are truly worthy of legislative
recognition for their valuable efforts; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
Legislature, hereby commend the leadership of LifeGift on the
organization's outstanding efforts to promote and facilitate
organ and tissue donation and recognize April of 2009 as Donate
Life Month in Texas; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
LifeGift as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
