SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 671 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in recognizing Chief Deputy Fred Cochran on the occasion of his retirement from the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office after 48 years of dedicated and loyal service in law enforcement; and WHEREAS, Fred Cochran began his career in law enforcement as a patrol officer with the Ennis Police Department in 1961 after serving in the United States Army as a military police officer; and WHEREAS, He joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in 1962 and served in the highway patrol, motor vehicle inspection service, polygraph service, and criminal intelligence service; he worked as a chief investigator for the Texas Racing Commission and retired from state service in 1998; he then worked as a bailiff in Dallas County; and WHEREAS, He has served as chief deputy of operations in the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office since January 1, 2001; and WHEREAS, Fred Cochran has demonstrated his commitment to duty and served this state and the citizens of Kaufman County with honor and respect; he has been an exemplary law enforcement officer, and his presence in the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Chief Deputy Fred Cochran of the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office for his exceptional service and his many contributions to our state and extend best wishes to him for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
