| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Dr. Gretchen M. Bataille, who has been named the |

| 4 | 4 | | Communities In Schools of North Texas Advocate of the Year; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Advocate of the Year award is bestowed on an |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | individual who champions the spirit of Communities In Schools by |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | helping students with the multiple challenges they face in the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | process of obtaining a high school diploma and pursuing the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | possibility of higher education; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, It is with those challenges in mind that Dr. |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Bataille laid the groundwork for the Emerald Eagle Scholars |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Program at the University of North Texas; since its inception in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 2007, this outstanding program has helped to fulfill the dream of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | going to college for more than 700 students; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Communities In Schools of North Texas is part of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the nationwide dropout prevention network that helps students to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | improve in academics, attendance, and behavior and encourages |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | young people to pursue postsecondary goals; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Through the Emerald Eagle Scholars Program and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | her leadership and advocacy on behalf of the young people of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | North Texas, Dr. Bataille has had a major impact on the lives of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | area students and their families, and she deserves recognition |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | for her exemplary dedication and exceptional success; now, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Gretchen M. Bataille for helping |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the students of North Texas with their educational pursuits and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | extend congratulations to her on being named Advocate of the Year |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | by Communities In Schools of North Texas; and, be it further |
