11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 727
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize Vanessa Hernandez, who has completed the requirements
44 for earning a Girl Scout Gold Award; this fine young woman is
55 being presented the coveted award by the Girl Scouts of Southwest
66 Texas on May 17, 2009; and
77 WHEREAS, The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award
88 that can be earned by girls between the ages of 14 and 18; only a
99 few Girl Scouts attain this distinguished honor; and
1010 WHEREAS, Girl Scouts develop leadership and organizational
1111 skills through the process of earning a Gold Award, and their
1212 commitment to the betterment of their community forms the basis
1313 for a lifetime of active citizenship; and
1414 WHEREAS, Vanessa has shown leadership by designing and
1515 implementing a service project that will be of lasting benefit to
1616 her community; and
1717 WHEREAS, By earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, Vanessa has
1818 brought great honor to herself, her family, and her community;
1919 she is truly a shining example to the young people of this state;
2020 now, therefore, be it
2121 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
2222 Legislature, hereby commend Vanessa Hernandez on earning the
2323 Girl Scout Gold Award and congratulate her on this outstanding
2424 accomplishment; and, be it further
2525 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2626 her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
