| 4 | 4 | | and most influential professional association for architects in |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | the world, with more than 300 component organizations in the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | United States and abroad, including 17 chapters in Texas, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | combining to represent the interests of over 80,000 members; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Society of Architects, organized in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1939, serves as the state component of the American Institute of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Architects, representing the interests of more than 6,500 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | members; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Texas architects have played a significant role |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | in developing and enhancing the state's quality of life, applying |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | building technology and design innovation to help create |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | attractive, safe, functional public and private spaces; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Texas architects provide crucial stewardship of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the great architectural and historic treasures of the state; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, With their unique education and training in |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | sustainable design, Texas architects employ thoughtful and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | ecologically mindful design solutions to have a positive impact |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | on the state's natural and built environments; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Throughout the history of the State of Texas, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | architects have played a vital role in envisioning, designing, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and building the public and private spaces that people occupy |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | daily, be it to live, learn, work, worship, heal, or gather as a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | proud community of Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby recognize May 4, 2009, as Architect |

| 29 | 29 | | Appreciation Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 31 | 31 | | the Texas Society of Architects as an expression of high regard |
