SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 987 In Memory of Salvador A. Mauricio WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Bexar County in mourning the loss of Salvador A. Mauricio, who died May 17, 2009, at the age of 81; and WHEREAS, Salvador "Stomper" Mauricio was born December 9, 1927, in San Antonio; he proudly served his country in the 25th Infantry Division of the United States Army during the Korean War; and WHEREAS, He was a man of many interests and diverse talents whose work included patrolling as a reserve officer for the Bexar County Sheriff's Department, serving as a teacher in the Edgewood Independent School District for 15 years, and delivering mail for the United States Postal Service for 35 years; he had a passion for traveling and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family; and WHEREAS, An active volunteer and community leader, he was a member of the Junior Optimist Club, the Saint Luke's Men's Club, and Prospect Hill Masonic Lodge; and WHEREAS, Salvador Mauricio was an exemplary gentleman and was respected for his many accomplishments; he was a man of integrity, strength, and generosity who gave unselfishly of his time to others; and WHEREAS, Salvador Mauricio was devoted to his wife of 50 years, Mary Lou, and to his children and grandchildren, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Salvador A. Mauricio; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Salvador Mauricio.
