| 13 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 14 | | SECTION 1. Section 62.014, Parks and Wildlife Code, is |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | amended by adding Subsection (n) to read as follows: |

| 16 | 16 | | (n) The following persons are exempt from any requirement to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | complete the live firing portion of a hunter education course under |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | this section: |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (1) an honorably discharged veteran of the United |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | States armed forces; or |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (2) a person who is on active duty as a member of the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | United States military forces, the Texas Army National Guard, the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Texas Air National Guard, or the Texas State Guard. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
