                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 10, 2011      TO: Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1135 by Aycock (Relating to an application to run for political office.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Election Code relating to an application to run for political office. A candidate could not amend an application after the filing deadline and the authority with whom the application is filed could not accept an amendment. In addition, after the filing deadline, a candidate could not amend a petition in lieu of a filing fee submitted with the candidates application and the authority with whom the application is filed could not accept an amendment. It is anticipated that any costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2011.
