12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |

14 | 14 | | amended by adding Section 662.108 to read as follows: |

15 | 15 | | Sec. 662.108. MINORITY CANCER AWARENESS MONTH. (a) April |
---|
16 | 16 | | is Minority Cancer Awareness Month to increase awareness of cancer |
---|
17 | 17 | | in minority populations and encourage funding of education and |
---|
18 | 18 | | earlier and more effective diagnosis and treatment of cancer. |
---|
19 | 19 | | (b) Minority Cancer Awareness Month shall be regularly |
---|
20 | 20 | | observed by appropriate activities in public locations to increase |
---|
21 | 21 | | cancer awareness, including the specific effects, incidences, and |
---|
22 | 22 | | impact of cancer on minority populations, and encourage support for |
---|
23 | 23 | | minority cancer education, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. |
---|
24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
