1010 AN ACT
1111 relating to designating April as Minority Cancer Awareness Month.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
1414 amended by adding Section 662.108 to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 662.108. MINORITY CANCER AWARENESS MONTH. (a) April
1616 is Minority Cancer Awareness Month to increase awareness of cancer
1717 in minority populations and encourage funding of education and
1818 earlier and more effective diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
1919 (b) Minority Cancer Awareness Month shall be regularly
2020 observed by appropriate activities in public locations to increase
2121 cancer awareness, including the specific effects, incidences, and
2222 impact of cancer on minority populations, and encourage support for
2323 minority cancer education, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
2424 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
