| 12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 173, Election Code, is |

| 14 | 14 | | amended by adding Section 173.0832 to read as follows: |

| 15 | 15 | | Sec. 173.0832. DIRECT REPAYMENT TO AUTHORITY CONDUCTING |

| 16 | 16 | | PRIMARY ELECTION UNDER CONTRACT IN CERTAIN COUNTIES. On request of |

| 17 | 17 | | a county election officer of a county with a population of 100,000 |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | or more who conducts a primary election under an election services |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | contract authorized under Subchapter D, Chapter 31, the secretary |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of state may provide payment of primary expenses directly to the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | officer who incurs the expense rather than to the county chair under |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | this subchapter. The secretary of state shall prescribe procedures |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | to implement this section. |
