The bill would amend the Government Code to remove the authority of the Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS) to adopt a rule that establishes classification requirements and minimum standards for certain prisoners awaiting transfer to a facility operated by or under contract with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). The Commission on Jails Standards anticipates costs of approximately $40,000 per year as a result of prolonged inspections anticipated by the provisions of the bill.
