| 14 | 14 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 15 | 15 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 5001, Special District |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Local Laws Code, is amended by adding Section 5001.102 to read as |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | follows: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Sec. 5001.102. SECURITY FOR BIDS ON LAND TO BE SOLD. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Notwithstanding Section 60.041, Water Code, the commission may |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | determine the amount of the check or bond a bidder must submit with |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | a bid to purchase land from the district to guarantee that the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | bidder will perform the terms of the purchase bid if it is accepted |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | by the commission. |

| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
