99 AN ACT
1010 relating to maximizing federal funding of extended unemployment
1111 benefits.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 209, Labor Code, is
1414 amended by adding Section 209.025 to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 209.025. FEDERAL FUNDING OF EXTENDED BENEFITS.
1616 Notwithstanding any other provision of this subchapter, the
1717 commission by rule may adjust the extended benefit eligibility
1818 period as necessary to maximize the receipt of any fully funded
1919 federal extended unemployment benefits, if full federal funding for
2020 those benefits is available.
2121 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2222 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2323 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2424 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2525 Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
