| 7 | 7 | | relating to providing that certain travel vouchers submitted by |

| 8 | 8 | | peace officers assigned to a protective detail are confidential. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 660, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 660.2035 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 660.2035. CONFIDENTIALITY OF CERTAIN PEACE OFFICER |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | VOUCHERS. (a) A voucher submitted or to be submitted under Section |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 660.027 is confidential and may not be disclosed under Chapter 552 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | if: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) the voucher is submitted or is to be submitted for |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | payment or reimbursement of a travel expense incurred by a peace |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | officer who is assigned to provide protection for an elected |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | official of this state or a member of the elected official's family; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (2) the travel expense was incurred by the peace |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | officer in providing protection for the elected official or family. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (b) A state agency that submits a voucher described by |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Subsection (a) shall provide to a person, on request, a summary of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the amounts paid or reimbursed by the comptroller in response to the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | voucher and a summary of any goods and services acquired for which a |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | travel expense is claimed under the voucher. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 2. Section 660.2035, Government Code, as added by |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | this Act, applies according to its terms in relation to travel |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | vouchers that have not been released before the effective date of |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | this Act. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
