99 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1010 AN ACT
1111 relating to the designation of a portion of U.S. Highway 81 as the
1212 Corporal David Slaton Memorial Highway.
1313 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1414 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,
1515 is amended by adding Section 225.082 to read as follows:
1616 Sec. 225.082. CORPORAL DAVID SLATON MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a)
1717 The portion of U.S. Highway 81 from the Texas-Oklahoma border to the
1818 northern municipal boundary of Bowie is designated as the Corporal
1919 David Slaton Memorial Highway.
2020 (b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
2121 (1) design and construct markers indicating the
2222 highway number, the designation as the Corporal David Slaton
2323 Memorial Highway, and any other appropriate information; and
2424 (2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
2525 appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
2626 (c) In this section, a reference to the municipal boundary
2727 of Bowie means that boundary as it exists on September 1, 2011.
2828 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2929 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3030 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3131 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3232 Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
