| 12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Section 42.155, Education Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | adding Subsection (l) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (l) A school district may, with the funds allotted under |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | this section, provide a bus pass or card for another transportation |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | system to each student who is eligible to use the regular |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | transportation system of the district but for whom the regular |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | transportation system of the district is not a feasible method of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | providing transportation. The commissioner by rule shall provide |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | procedures for a school district to provide bus passes or cards to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | students under this subsection. |

| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
