99 AN ACT
1010 relating to the use of transportation allotment funds by school
1111 districts to provide bus passes or cards to certain students.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 42.155, Education Code, is amended by
1414 adding Subsection (l) to read as follows:
1515 (l) A school district may, with the funds allotted under
1616 this section, provide a bus pass or card for another transportation
1717 system to each student who is eligible to use the regular
1818 transportation system of the district but for whom the regular
1919 transportation system of the district is not a feasible method of
2020 providing transportation. The commissioner by rule shall provide
2121 procedures for a school district to provide bus passes or cards to
2222 students under this subsection.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
