1010 relating to the date for the election of directors of the Hill
1111 Country Underground Water Conservation District.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 8844.104, Special District Local Laws
1414 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 8844.104. ELECTION DATE. Each even-numbered
1616 [odd-numbered] year, the board shall hold an election in the
1717 district on the uniform election date in November [May] to elect the
1818 appropriate number of directors.
1919 SECTION 2. Notwithstanding Section 8844.102, Special
2020 District Local Laws Code:
2121 (1) a member of the board of directors of the Hill
2222 Country Underground Water Conservation District elected in May 2009
2323 shall serve until the member's successor has qualified following
2424 the directors' election held on the uniform election date in
2525 November 2012 in accordance with Section 8844.104, Special District
2626 Local Laws Code, as amended by this Act; and
2727 (2) a member of the board of directors of the Hill
2828 Country Underground Water Conservation District elected in May 2011
2929 shall serve until the member's successor has qualified following
3030 the directors' election held on the uniform election date in
3131 November 2014 in accordance with Section 8844.104, Special District
3232 Local Laws Code, as amended by this Act.
3333 SECTION 3. (a) The legal notice of the intention to
3434 introduce this Act, setting forth the general substance of this
3535 Act, has been published as provided by law, and the notice and a
3636 copy of this Act have been furnished to all persons, agencies,
3737 officials, or entities to which they are required to be furnished
3838 under Section 59, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, and Chapter 313,
3939 Government Code.
4040 (b) The governor, one of the required recipients, has
4141 submitted the notice and Act to the Texas Commission on
4242 Environmental Quality.
4343 (c) The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has filed
4444 its recommendations relating to this Act with the governor, the
4545 lieutenant governor, and the speaker of the house of
4646 representatives within the required time.
4747 (d) All requirements of the constitution and laws of this
4848 state and the rules and procedures of the legislature with respect
4949 to the notice, introduction, and passage of this Act are fulfilled
5050 and accomplished.
5151 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
5252 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
5353 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
5454 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
5555 Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
