A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to certain nonrefundable application fees established by
the Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 1701.154, Occupations Code, is amended
to read as follows:
Sec. 1701.154. FEES. (a) The commission may establish
reasonable and necessary fees for the administration of this
chapter, including reasonable and necessary fees for the
administration of Section 1701.257.
(b) The commission may refund an application fee, including
a fee that is otherwise nonrefundable, paid for an application if
the commission determines the application was submitted by mistake.
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
to an application submitted to the Commission on Law Enforcement
Officer Standards and Education on or after the effective date of
this Act. An application submitted before the effective date of
this Act is governed by the law in effect immediately before the
effective date of this Act, and that law is continued in effect for
that purpose.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
