99 AN ACT
1010 relating to the period in which a person commits the offense of
1111 funeral service disruption.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 42.055(b), Penal Code, is amended to
1414 read as follows:
1515 (b) A person commits an offense if, during the period
1616 beginning three hours [one hour] before the service begins and
1717 ending three hours [one hour] after the service is completed, the
1818 person engages in picketing within 1,000 feet of a facility or
1919 cemetery being used for a funeral service.
2020 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2121 to an offense committed on or after the effective date of this Act.
2222 An offense committed before the effective date of this Act is
2323 governed by the law in effect on the date the offense was committed,
2424 and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. For
2525 purposes of this section, an offense was committed before the
2626 effective date of this Act if any element of the offense occurred
2727 before that date.
2828 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
