| 11 | 11 | | relating to the operation and movement of a vehicle when certain |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | traffic-control signals do not display an indication. |

| 13 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 14 | | SECTION 1. Section 544.007, Transportation Code, is amended |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | by amending Subsection (i) and adding Subsection (j) to read as |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | follows: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (i) An operator of a vehicle facing a traffic-control |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | signal, other than a freeway entrance ramp control signal or a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | pedestrian hybrid beacon, that does not display an indication in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | any of the signal heads shall stop as provided by Section 544.010 as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | if the intersection had a stop sign. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (j) In this section: |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (1) "Freeway entrance ramp control signal" means a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | traffic-control signal that controls the flow of traffic entering a |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | freeway. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (2) "Pedestrian hybrid beacon" means a |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | pedestrian-controlled traffic-control signal that displays |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | different colored lights successively only when activated by a |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | pedestrian. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
