99 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1010 AN ACT
1111 relating to the operation and movement of a vehicle when certain
1212 traffic-control signals do not display an indication.
1313 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1414 SECTION 1. Section 544.007, Transportation Code, is amended
1515 by amending Subsection (i) and adding Subsection (j) to read as
1616 follows:
1717 (i) An operator of a vehicle facing a traffic-control
1818 signal, other than a freeway entrance ramp control signal or a
1919 pedestrian hybrid beacon, that does not display an indication in
2020 any of the signal heads shall stop as provided by Section 544.010 as
2121 if the intersection had a stop sign.
2222 (j) In this section:
2323 (1) "Freeway entrance ramp control signal" means a
2424 traffic-control signal that controls the flow of traffic entering a
2525 freeway.
2626 (2) "Pedestrian hybrid beacon" means a
2727 pedestrian-controlled traffic-control signal that displays
2828 different colored lights successively only when activated by a
2929 pedestrian.
3030 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3131 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3232 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3333 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3434 Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
