10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 417.0075(b), Government Code, is amended | |
12 | 12 | to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | (b) If a firefighter dies in the line of duty or if the | |
14 | 14 | firefighter's death occurs in connection with an on-duty [a | |
15 | 15 | fire-fighting] incident in this state, the state fire marshal shall | |
16 | 16 | investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the | |
17 | 17 | firefighter, including any [the cause and origin of the fire, the | |
18 | 18 | condition of the structure, and the suppression operation, to | |
19 | 19 | determine the] factors that may have contributed to the death of the | |
20 | 20 | firefighter. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
22 | 22 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
23 | 23 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
24 | 24 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
25 | 25 | Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
